I had the incredible experience of teaching at Oak Hills High School for the 2020-2021 school year while one of their art teachers was on an extended leave. I taught Art Foundations and Ceramics both semesters, and learned as much from the students as they learned from me. While I was primarily teaching preset curriculum created by the teacher I was filling in for, the year still provided plenty of opportunities to design projects and learn to navigate running a classroom on my own. Completing my first year of teaching during the pandemic was challenging in many ways, but was so incredibly rewarding.
